Influencer criticized for naming baby after Disney character

An online community harshly criticized a social media celebrity for giving her newborn a strange name that was inspired by a four-legged, doe-eyed Disney figure, calling it a “brilliant stripper name.”

However, the infant, who has the same name as the child of a well-known reality TV personality, is aptly called, and her mother claims she doesn’t give a damn if people find it offensive.

Thus, continue reading to learn more about this tale.

Molly-Mae Hague announced the arrival of her baby girl on social media in January 2023. She shares the child with Tommy Fury, the man she met on the reality show Love Island.

Soon after, Hague shared a sweet Instagram picture of baby Bambi in her exquisitely furnished bedroom, along with the name of her daughter.

Almost instantly, the couple—who were both 23 at the time—found themselves under intense social media scrutiny as critical remarks deluged online forums, with many people expressing their disapproval of the baby’s unusual, Disney-inspired name.

On her trolling YouTube channel, Hague stated, “I think I was just brought back down to planet Earth very, very quickly, of how nasty this world can be.” “I think it’s a lovely name when we revealed it, even though I know it’s quirky and distinctive and won’t appeal to everyone. Two seconds later, I exclaimed, “Oh my God!”

The parents maintain that there is no better name for their daughter, whom they intended to have when they first met in the Love Island villa in 2019, despite the vitriol.

“Our little girl had only one name, and that was Bambi,” Fury disclosed. Molly only ever wanted to refer to her daughter as Bambi when she was younger.Furthermore, I won’t be the one to say no thus. and I still adore the name.

To stop trolls from posting uninvited thoughts about their child, the couple, who had split, removed comments from the announcement.

“Excellent minds”

It’s not just Hague and Fury that adore the moniker Bambi.

Just a few months prior, Sydney, Australia’s Indy Clinton, 25, told the Daily Mail that she gave her kid the name Bambi Valentine because she “was convinced” it was a “unique, unusual name that nobody would use.”

She was mistaken, though, saying, “Good on Molly-Mae though, looks like great minds think alike.”

Clinton, a well-known TikTok influencer, has also loved Disney’s Bambi since she was a young child, just like Molly-Mae. Her association with the moniker was further cemented when she frequently read the tale to her two-year-old son, Navy.

“It struck me one night while I was reading the book to Navy. When Clinton chose the baby’s name, she recalls, “I sat up and yelled, ‘what about Bambi?’ and from then on it stuck.”

“My Bambilicious”

When the three-time mother arrived in October 2022, Clinton stated her daughter’s “big brown eyes” and “sweet, curious nature” reminded her of the cartoon’s cherished fawn, even though she had originally intended to name the child Paloma.

Clinton said, “She’s my Bambilicious; she couldn’t be a Paloma now.”

However, Clinton’s Bambi was also the focus of public scrutiny, much like the criticisms Hague faced when she disclosed the identity of her daughter.

One netizen says, “Brilliant stripper name,” while another just remark, “Bambi?” accompanied by teary-eyed emojis.

In the meantime, a lot of people admired the originality of the name and gushed over pictures of the child.

How stunning she is! And you have given her a beautiful name that will last a lifetime. One commenter comments on Clinton’s Instagram image, “Welcome to the world, Bambi Valentine.”

“Love her name, she’s so adorable!” One says, “She’s gorgeous, love her name, congratulations,” while another shares a second.

She would “be more concerned calling my kid a name from the 1900s,” Clinton added, dismissing the accusations.

“Anything these days will be criticized, so at least give them something to discuss.”

“Unique names are the new trend,” Clinton asserts, adding that Bambi will blend in perfectly with the Rivers, Bears, Forests, Stormis, and Wolfs.

Clinton continues, “That [is] her name, and nothing [is] going to change that.”
